then it's an SA rated helmet. Snell has two ratings: an M for motorcycles and an SA for automotive applications. Supposedly, M rated helmets are designed to take one major blow, whereas an SA rated helmet is designed to take multiple blows (such as being tossed arouns inside a car while it's rolling). Your helmet, if it is an M rated, is probably OK up until certain speeds. Once you get fast enough, they'll probably require an SA rated helmet. Road course events are the same way. Driving schools allow M rated helmets.. time trials and any SCCA sanctioned event will require an SA rating, probably 95 or better. Stacy
